Chord Pregression
Chord Progression window shown in the right figure
appears when you click the button labeled Chord Progression ...
in the scale box in Sound tab.
The example figure shows a view of sequence already arranged,
but it is empty just after you open it.
You can arrange a sequence of chord progression to play sounds
following the sequence.
The sequence can be saved into a file, reloaded again, and edited.
It is a Scale but not a Chord
We call it chord here, but correctly saying, it is not a chord but a scale.
It is impossible to set some of tension chords such as 9th, 11th, and 13th as their definition.
Alternatively, you can set them by key shifted one octave down.
Inserting a Chord Segment
We call a unit of chord with a duration chord segment.
The current scale in the scale box is inserted at the current position of the cursor
as a new chord segment by clicking
button.
The cursor is displayed by flicking black vertical bar.
You can insert a chord segment by drag & drop operation from
a line in the list of Preset Scale.
You can insert a new line by pushing return key
or clicking
button.
Changing the Length of Chord Segment
You can change the duration of a chord segment by dragging the right edge.
If there are other segments at the right side of modified one,
they slide left or right according to your drag operation.
The unit of ruler above the space of the sequence is second.
You can select one segment by clicking it.
Its color turns dark grey.
Dragging operation allows you to select consecutive segments in one operation.
If there are more than one segments selected when you drag the right edge of
one of them, the lengths of all of selected segments are modified
proportionally to each original length.
Deleting Chord Segments
Selected segments are removed by pushing delete key
or clicking
button.
If there are other segments at the right side of removed segment,
they shift leftward.
If there is no segment selected, one segment at the left of the cursor
is removed. If the cursor is at the left edge of the line,
one new line is removed and the segments at the line move to the
right side of the upper line.
Modifying a Chord Segment
Clicking
button opens
a window entitled Chord Segment Information appears on the screen
as shown in the right figure, if there is a selected segment.
You can modify the attributes of the chord segment on
Label, Length and Scale
operating this panel.
This operation has no effect to other information other than
the selected chord segment.
You can exchange the value of length between the current and the default.
The default length is applied to a newly added segment.
Magnification of Display
Clicking
button magnifies the horizontal scale,
that is, the time axis, in double.
Clicking
button reduces it into half size.
Applying the Sequence to the Play
You can start the process to apply the sequence as chord progression by clicking
button. The progression is shown by a vertical
red bar that moves over the sequence from the beginning to the end.
The scale automatically changes when the red bar passes over the border of
chord segments. During this process, the check buttons in scale box of
Parameter Settings window doesn't change,
but the scale the agents play changes.
Clicking
button stops the progression.
Clicking
button moves the current play position to the
beginning of the sequence.
button is to switch the repetition mode.
It plays the sequence repeatedly if it is on.
The scale returns back to that of
Parameter Settings window when
the progression reaches the end and repetition mode is off.
Saving and Loading the Sequence
You can save the sequence into a disk file by clicking
button.
The file appears in a finder window as an icon shown in the right figure.
Its file name extension is DT1chord.
Clicking
button loads
the sequence from a file you saved before.
